Finally, A Hey Witch! Shop Update

It’s happening!!
(thank you so so much for your patience)

Whew, it’s been a while, eh? I was hoping to have a shop update ready to go a couple weeks ago, but the Postal Workers Union strike (click link to see what they’re striking for - as frustrating as the shutdown is, they’ve got good reasons and are fighting for better working conditions!) unfortunately meant that I had to take some time to figure out a stopgap shipping plan while I wait for them to return.

This shipping disruption means I won’t be able to post everything I was hoping to post before the holidays, as I’m currently having issues with sending smaller packages to the States via the temporary shipping service I’m using, but bigger items like mugs & BirdLadies & etc are good to go (it does pain me to not have a nice price range in my shop like I usually try to do, but I promise I’ll post some very exciting little guys as soon as the strike ends, eg. some ancient horses & the fish I was making earlier in the fall!!).

All that being said, I’m planning to reopen my shop at 4pm EST Monday, December 2nd and will keep everything active until December 4th, after which time the shop will be closed again until early 2025. You can go see the first round of mugs & creatures available on the shop right now by heading over to heywitch.bigcartel.com, but I’ll be adding more beasts as the opening approaches!

& here’s a wee sneak peek at some of the mugs & critters that’ll be in this update:

Studio Dude-ios
or, what’s going on at my pottery desk & beyond

Oh my goodness, it’s been a whirlwind up here in my studio since my last newsletter!

I’m still working away slowly at my graphic novel, I finished the art for a new kids book at the end of June (I’ll send out a wee update when it’s available, should be soonish as it went to print last month!), and I’m about to start in on another kids book (written by the same author who wrote the first picture book I ever illustrated, Charles) in the new year. Phew!

Oh, and I had the great honour of being included in an article in the Globe and Mail* about potters who sell their work online, written by Kat Tancock for the August 10th edition of the paper, which was such a thrill!

It was the cover article for the Arts section! Super exciting!!

Oh look, it’s me! I definitely stand by the fact that people love a weird little creature, btw <3

Oh, and that very loon seen balanced on my hand there? She’s totally available for purchase when the shop opens!

Here she is enjoying a little lakeside sunbathe this summer :)

*online article only available to G&M subscribers, sorry :(

I hope I’ll have more energy for a fun update next time, but until then, here’s a photo from my very hectic pottery desk during the glazing of my last batch of the year (these toad trinket plates turned out better than I could have hoped & will be uploaded to the shop very soon)! Hope everyone has a wonderful last-month-of-2024!

Thanks for reading :)
