Hey Witch! May 2024 Shop Update
Medieval mugs, selkies, & more!
It’s happening! Read on for all the info & a sneaky peek!
As always, it took me a little longer than I expected, but I’m putting the second half of my late winter/early spring batch up in the shop THIS COMING SATURDAY (May 25th) at 3pm est!
This chunk has some medieval bestiary mugs, selkies, brand new wall-hanging birds, and (not up in the shop yet, but will be there for Saturday) a new herd of Ancient Horses!
See some peeks below, or visit heywitch.bigcartel.com to see most of the shop drop up for preview (descriptions coming soon)!
Medieval Bestiary Mugs!
Selkies!!
Brand new thing: wall-hanging helpful ravens!!
They hang on the wall w/a wire loop on the back & also hold a wee trinket/precious sprig of something!
Studio Dude-ios
or, what’s going on at my pottery desk & beyond
This is one of those times where my studio is super-busy but I can’t post about most of it - eg. I’m working on a very cool client project and a new kids book, but since they’re in progress, I’ve gotta keep the work to myself!
OK, fine, you can have one tiny peek of the kids book! If you insist!!
One little-but-also-big thing I did recently was rejig my portfolio website (jessicabartram.ca) to reflect the fact that pottery has truly become part of my professional art-life (& also just generally I needed a new look because I’d had the same template since 2015!!?). There are also some fun design & illustration projects that I’ve completed over the past year-ish that had been languishing un-posted, so feel free to stroll on over & check them out!
I guess my biggest update is in the kiln right now. That update? The fact I managed to make 36 (thirty-SIX!!?) slab-built mugs & cups in just under a month, which frankly feels a little bit unreasonable, but somehow I managed it! I just pressed go on a bisque firing for all of them (additional cool news: my kiln can fit 36 vessels in it! Good work, Calcifer!), so you can check my instagram tomorrow to see how that went!
Turns out I didn’t really take any photos of the mug process, but I did edit together a couple of reels about ‘em, so here’s one of those:
Last teeny thing: after literally years of trying (2yrs, but still!! yrs!!), I have successfully captured the perfect shape of The Mighty Raccoon in clay! Did this also summon a pack of 5-6 awful little bandits to my yard to wreak havoc and mess with my newly-planted native plants (most terribly, breaking both leaves off one of my bloodroots with their stinky little bodies)? Maybe, but feels worth it nevertheless!
Ideal raccoon body shape or trash panda summoning spell? Why not both!
