HeyWitch! Shop Update: October Edition
Release one of two for this fall. This one's ALL CREATURES ALL THE TIME!
This is long overdue, considering all of these beasts were fired & done in June/July, but better late than never, eh? What I’m saying is —
This drop is full of funky little creatures, and a preview of all the weirdos can be viewed here (heywitch.bigcartel.com)! Descriptions & measurements will be appearing over the next few days / as soon as I finish glazing my current batch of mugs (more on that farther down the newsletter!).
In case you need a guide to some of the beasts that have wandered into the shop, here’s a little ID sheet:
Since this shop update took me so dang long to put together (& to celebrate a few exciting things happening around my studio, more on that soon), I’m going to be including an EXTRA SPECIAL SUPER SURPRISE in some randomly chosen packages!
Six random packages from this update will be delightfully infested by WoodsBeast larvae — don’t worry, they’re perfectly safe to have around the house & would be particularly happy living in a potted plant! If you do end up with a larva of your very own, please let me know (you can respond to me here or via instagram or maybe bluesky — I’m jbbartram in both places).
Studio Dude-ios
or, what’s going on at my pottery desk & beyond
My next batch is almost all mugs (and some weird little bird creatures, can’t resist making some strange beasts) & after almost two weeks of painstaking underglaze decoration, today I finally start slopping some glaze on their insides (& then they’re getting fired early next week, I hope?!). Here’s a peek at some of the designs (& I’ve posted more images/some fun reels about ‘em over on my instagram):
In non-pottery news, I was incredibly honoured to be given another Canada Council grant so I can spend a bunch of this/next year working on my first full-length graphic novel!! It’s incredible to have my work both acknowledged and funded like this!
I recently finished a first pass of the complete storyboard (then promptly added like 20 more pages while reviewing it, oops!) and am getting into some colour/linework tests, so here’s the sneakiest peek at a rough spread I’m noodling away at as a possible colour-direction:
I absolutely can’t wait to be able to talk about this project more, so stay tuned!
