HeyWitch! Ceramics Shop Update

Shop opens Wednesday, December 3rd at 7pm EST

OK here we go! I didn’t mean to overlap with the Big Sales Time, so hopefully this email doesn’t get lost in the shuffle as I work to get the remaining creatures/vessels off to new homes before the holidays!

The shop will reopen this Wednesday, December 3rd and will stay open until Saturday, December 13th, at which point it will close for the holidays. Check out a preview of all the available cups & beasts here: heywitch.bigcartel.com

Some quick notes on shipping:

  1. I’m still only shipping to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand at the moment (see my summer update for the reasons why, even if it’s a bit out of date). Apologies to everyone else - I promise I’m working to get things figured out for the US and hopefully the EU in the new year!

  2. If you’re local to me (in the Ottawa area) or have someone here who can come pick up your piece, email me after you order. I can refund shipping and arrange for pickup anytime before December 17th.

Here’s a peek at what’s in store for you:

And I’m even having a couple wee sales (NOT affiliated with any recent Big Sales Events…I’m just eager to clear off my shelves for what’s to come in 2026)! All flatfish are $10 off, as is the remaining Moonman jar, and all the prehistoric beasts are $5 off.

So! That’s that on the shop update front. Now on to the return of…

Studio Dude-ios
or, what’s going on at my pottery desk & beyond

My first ever 613flea booth!!

My first ever local market (613flea) was a great success! I managed to cobble together a decent little table display (the secret: the mug shelf on the far left is my bedside table & the vintage crates? Yeah, they usually hold towels in our bathroom closet). It was lovely getting to sell my work IRL and chat with so many lovely people about pottery, birds, rotund raccoons, and art history, and being able to see people interacting with the work was such a delight. I’m hoping to do more of these in 2026, so keep an eye out if you live in the area (I’ll obviously send out newsletters about any markets I’m in).

Some critters on the drying shelf!

Since I work pretty slowly, I’ve already started in on replenishing my shelves for 2026. I’ll have a lot more mugs to make after the holidays, but I wanted to keep this little batch a bit more relaxed, so I focused mostly on critters (mug-making requires a much more involved process/trundling around the studio/waiting for things to be the exact right kind of dry, so I need a bit more energy for that!).

Funky Ravens galore!

I did whip up four mugs, one of which might be my favourite Medieval manuscript-inspired design yet - here’s a peek:

This batch goes in the kiln for a bisque-fire this week, then I’ll just be glazing away, as there are a few commissions/Xmas gifts in there along with the new year prep!

Since this is my last newsletter of 2025 (how?!), I also wanted to thank everyone who has supported HeyWitch! through another year of strange little beasts and illustrated vessels. I can’t wait to see what this next year brings as I work on creating a regular and sustainable creation schedule and hopefully get out on the town (maybe even other towns - I’m eyeing Toronto & Montréal markets too!) more. I’m wishing you all a lovely festive season and all the best for 2026!

xoxo
